Description
Dandelions are dabbled like gold in the fields and greet the mature seasonal corn crop. On the Amish farm, shocks of wheat have been stacked upright in a field for drying. The landscape along the Tioughnioga River is marked by rolling, wooded hills, deep stream valleys, and fertile soil. A dutch amish community have migrated north from Pennsylvania to Ms. Simon's childhood home in Central New York. The giggling girls are having a dandy day, jumping in the mud created from a rain shower the day before. The girls have not stopped to think about what their parents are going to voice about the soiling of their hand made clothing. As the Amish have a saying "one for wash, one for wear, one for dress and one for spare." This scene is a reminder of happy memories for the artist Linda Simon and her daughter Hillary. When her daughter was little, she and her friends would jump in the puddles of rain and squeal with joy. Make crowns out of dandelion chains and rub their cheeks making yellow flower blush. Linda believes these are the things in life that are most memorable. When observing this oil painting "Dandy Day" you will not only see but feel the simple life! Thank You Mike, the new age of computer generated art work is made with so much haste with no thought, as you are a true artist, we are sadly getting to be a dinosaurs.
